Live-In Lightworker: Jacko's Thoughts on Retirement, Healing and Community

Meet my friend, a local legend, as we reflect on trauma, kindness, and the joy of small things.

What if Healing is as Simple as a Smile?

My friend Jacko thinks so.

Lightworkers come in many forms - this is my friend and neighbour, Jacko Geatches. He is a local identity in the Belmont community, known for his friendly ‘g’day’ to all.

We were discussing the change from living independently on his own for years to needing support and being willing to accept it, when we decided to record our conversation.

He has lived a life of change, learnt to deal with traumas and still finds the silver linings.

Jacko made the ‘diamond dot’ portrait of me for my birthday.

He is one of the most generous souls, whether giving a bit of cheek or sharing his home grown produce. You know I miss your figs and snow peas Jacko!

Besides being the live-in lightworker, at nearly 80 years old he is a keen Manly Sea Eagles fan, knowledgeable gardener, and has been recording his memoir.

I hope you enjoy our short chat.

Blessed be
