Asleep to Awake
Finding the way in to our Divine wisdom is our right, and it is often a dance between the ego and inner self. Ascension truths, techniques to access our Divine wisdom, and moving beyond perfection.
Every single one of us has the ability to work with energy, to heal our own energetic limitations to support our wellness, and brings unique gifts to this lifetime.
Some have a perception that to be a Spiritual Healer that a practitioner needs to be, well, healed. If we consider the trajectory from the ‘asleep’ state where a person is focused on their physical life experience, their possessions and accomplishments to the ‘awake’ state, we understand that that continuum is long. The ultimate awakened state looks something like understanding we are:
Infinite energy, each connected to the other and part of the energetic whole
Here to remember we are joy
Unconditionally love at our source, and unconditionally loved by Source
Each on a path of emotional evolution to be guided by our feelings rather than shun, manipulate or avoid them.
Equal with all other energies – there is no need for competition with others or self
Ultimately harming ourselves when we harm others through our words, actions, thoughts
Capable of using our focus to create our reality
In human bodies and negotiating human circumstances for our development
On our own unique path of evolution that cannot be hurried or slowed
Each comprised of light and dark aspects of the self - no need to judge here!
Being guided by our Higher Self to have the experience in this lifetime that we set for ourselves
Invited to make better choices each time we recognise we don’t enjoy an outcome
Responsible for how the world responds to us as it simply matches our world view
Responsible for how we react to our circumstances
Responsible for how much control we give to our ego (the part of us that we use to establish identity in the physical)
Guided to grace and compassion, able to offer unconditional love to all, especially those who act in an unloving way -and including ourselves
Responsible for creating healthy boundaries that match our self-respect, while sustaining unconditional love and forgiveness
Capable of holding unfailing trust in Divine guidance
Unconditionally worthy of loving and accepting ourselves exactly as we are in this moment
It’s not a small list and I’m sure it is not conclusive. As practitioners in the world of personal ascension and spiritual evolution we must be considering these questions.
So how do I view my ability to maintain each of these criteria? Well, I am human too. Sometimes I do really well and othertimes, as a school report might read, ‘there is room for improvement’. And what a relief it is to remember that I am not perfect and neither are you.
There is nothing in our Divine blueprints that says we are aiming for perfection. Rather, we are aiming for experiences that develop expansion. If I need you to believe I am infallible, I am operating from fear, not integrity. We help each other when we allow ourselves to be our true, fallible selves. In this way we teach each other that it is okay to be a learner and to experience all kinds of outcomes, that we don’t need to hold ourselves to anyone else’s expectations and that it is unfair of us to have high expectations of ourselves that bind us in anyway.
A note for the recovering perfectionists out there (and yes, I am highly qualified and able to comment), perfectionism does not encourage us to do better or be better. Perfectionism is created out of fear of being criticised and seen as less than perfect which may cause us to feel unloved or unaccepted. This fear is an exhausting taskmaster, driving us to seek the unsustainable and trying to keep us from taking the risks we really need for our growth. All counter to trusting that we are being guided to have the experiences we need.
Trust the Niggle
The alternative to fear is ‘trusting the niggle’, listening to our bodies and our inner voice that whispers, ‘this doesn’t feel right’ or lights up with feelings of joy and excitement when we are on the right path. Always trust the niggle!
And this is how those of us who ‘do the work’ pay attention to our reactions to situations and circumstances. What feels ‘off’ or uncomfortable IS the invitation to dig deeper. To find the source of our discomfort and heal what is presented. We do our work regularly, sometimes daily, going within for our answers and seek the support of other healers when we aren’t able to problem solve for ourselves.
Occasionally I am reminded that I have the answer, or that I’m not listening and that I need to go within. My guidance again and again directs to get outside, to spend time in nature, to drink water, ground and meditate. I know when to clear energy with or without sacred smoke or sound. But is there a magic script that healers follow? I don’t think so!
We are each invited to find our way into ourselves, to get good with being with ourselves, to know that we are individuals yet part of the whole and that we matter. Our not so distant period of isolation was exactly this. For those who didn’t get the memo, there will be another sign to stop and go within.
Tap In
Ways we can tap into this all knowing part of ourselves is by cutting through the external and head noise. When I first began, my busy brain took the opportunity to remind me of everything that was wrong with my life, with me, with my past decisions and quickly drove me to tears, anger, or depressing thoughts. It helped to remember that we are not our thoughts. Meditation is a practice where we can gently observe what comes up and examine whether our thoughts hold truth or not. Perhaps the thought has come to the surface to ask us to release an old, unhelpful way of thinking.
There are a range of meditative practices that help to focus on the moment, and find a less confronting way in than sitting in a silent space.
Moving meditation
Walking in nature (without headphones!) and notice the sounds, the sights, the smells.
Sitting in nature with eyes closed, focusing on the sounds, the air temperature, the smells.
Swimming laps, focusing on the black line
Yoga
Dancing to music
Cycling
Breath work
Cyclic breathing – breathe in for the count of 5, hold for 5, breathe out for 5, repeat
Breathing for relaxation – breathe in as deeply as you can, hold and then with the out breath focus on relaxing tension from the body

Take a course in Reiki
Reiki creates a clear and open channel to Source. It allows you to connect with Source and Mother Earth to maintain an open channel that supports guidance and self-healing. It isn’t ‘giving’ energy, but allow unlimited energy to flow through us, be directed to us and holds space to allow this energy to move where it is needed.

Have Fun!
Keep refocussing, following the joy. Truly, we are not here to suffer.
See a Healer
I encourage you to talk your problems over with a psychologist or counselor if needed, and then see a healer to release the need for the dis-comfort and dis-ease. Our patterns of discomfort are not random occurences. They are messages from your Higher Self, reminding you of what you have chosen to heal.
Most importantly, keep trying until you find what works for you.
In my experience, healers have experienced healing, continue to do the work and the right healer is the one with whom you resonate. Can you too be a healer if you are healing? Yes. Can you find the right partner if you are healing? Yes! Can you find joy in your life and tap into your inner wisdom regardless of where you are on your life journey? Again, yes! It is up to us to choose and to keep choosing what feels right for us.
If you are a healer, I’d love to hear how you view ascension. If you have enjoyed this post, please like, share and comment - your feedback is appreciated!
Blessings
