With the Utmost Patience
All are one, yet not. An explanation for our energetic variation and finding tolerance for difference. Blessed be.
This week I have been on retreat with a group of Year 12 students who affirm again and again that our world is in good hands. Aware, discerning, and connected. I say affirm because invariably every younger person I have ever worked with in clinic holds such true energy - even when navigating their version of our shared world. They are the reminder that we too, can return to unconditional love.
This message above the common room door, strikes a deep chord:
“Be the first to honour one another. Bear each other’s weaknesses of both body and character with the utmost patience.” Rule of Bennedict, Chapter LXXII
It sounds so simple, yet we often default to criticism - an Egoic strategy to reaffirm differences and the belief that we are okay because someone else is not.
A Lesson in Patience
Patience and acceptance are two lessons that offer a lifetime’s worth of learning for me, and many others too. Sometimes others around us share their insights and perhaps we absorb them, or perhaps we need further experience before certain awarenesses can come to us. I recall my mam saying that her mother aging taught her patience in a way that she had not known before. There are gifts to be had when we care to look for them.
An Energetic Explanation
When we consider the energetic trajectories we each travel, it begins to make more sense. We cannot possibly hold wisdom in the physical until we have experienced the lesson and accepted it as our truth, our true nature.
The life lessons we seek, the experiences we hope to have and the experiences we do have cumulate. While we are each an energetic fragment of the whole, our experience is not the same and so our level of awareness is also varied. Yet we understand as energetic beings that certain experiences will offer expansion, opportunities to redress imbalances or karmic residues, to feel joy and all manner of emotions in a physical body once more. And these experiences will influence the vibration of Mass Consciousness, contributing to healing the past and creating a better present.
Judgment
It makes no sense to judge - it is like judging a child as adequate or inadequate based on learning to tie a shoe lace. The beginner who has just begun to understand the sequence of the required knot, the child who can create a clumsy knot, and finally, the child who has learnt to tie their own shoes.
None of these children is better or less than. They are simply learning and evolving in their own Divine right timing.
Our time on Earth is no different.
And when I slip. When I fall into judgment of myself or another, I remind myself:
I am a learner, expanding in my right timing, as is each of us.
Blessed be
