'Wisha, Wisha, Whispered the Trees'
Soften your gaze and listen. The trees have messages and healing for those who are ready.
“What a strange noise the leaves of the trees make,” he said. “It’s as if they were talking to one another—telling secrets.”
“Wisha, wisha, wisha, wisha,” whispered the trees.
“They are talking secrets,” said Bessie, “if the trees have any message for us, we can hear it by pressing our left ears to the trunks of the trees! Then we really hear what they say.” The Magic Faraway Tree, Enid Blyton
The Tree / Earth / Source Connection
When I look back on my childhood, I can see it was strewn with the reminders of magic in the world. This morning I woke with the memory of this extract from one of our family favourites, The Magic Faraway Tree.
Tree ancestry or lineage is not unlike our own.
The ancient trees - the elders, hold lived wisdom, dropping their roots deeply into Mother Earth and intertwining with others as they firmly anchor themselves and those around them.
Scientists are beginning to explore how trees use Mycorrhizal networks (fungal connections) as a communication highway for sharing information and resources via chemicals, hormones and low pulsing energetic signals.
I love this simple explanation from the National Geographic.
The behaviour of ‘hub’ trees described much like a mother or father role and this is where scientific ideas begin to interweave with the Sacred Wisdom of the Earth Mother. At 2:28, the clip begins to explore the impact of removing the largest trees from the forest.
Significant or parent trees act as leaders - feeding information to others. When a father or mother tree is damaged it becomes the ‘grandparent’ and its knowledge is transferred to a stronger, younger tree. It then becomes the leader, managing disease and predators.
Not only do trees hold wisdom and function as anchors, they are also connected to All that Is. Soften your gaze to notice their aura, or follow the light of their connection from Gaia back to Source.
You, too, may notice the column of light that shines like a beacon from each tree. Then with a soft gaze and open imagination, see many trees, many lightbeams shining out from Mother Earth like a plasma ball, lit from within.
Connecting with Trees
So how can we listen to their messages?
Slow down.
Notice which tree captures your attention.
Stand in the energy of the tree, sit leaning against it, lie on the ground under it, or hug the tree and allow your heart space to connect.
Ask it for its support. You will get a clear ‘yes’, ‘no’, or a feeling. Trust it.
Be still.
Trees are natural and dedicated transmuters, resolving and repairing unhealed energies to restore alignment.
If you need to restore balance and groundedness, ask for it.
Allow yourself to be washed in the energy of the tree: mind, body and spirit.
Does the tree have a message for you?
Does the tree ask something of you?
Again, be still and allow whatever comes to mind to be the answer.
When you are ready, breathe deeply, and give thanks.
Now notice how you feel.
Gifts
Trees give of themselves in so many ways. You may enjoy working with these essential oils:
If applying to the skin, dilute using a carrier such as almond oil and always remember to do a skin patch test as essential oils are powerful and can be toxic.
The essential oils named above are generally known to be safe to use several drops topically but always check and stop using immediately if you notice adverse reactions.
Apply a 2-3 drops over the heart, at wrists or bottoms of feet.
Alternatively, use several drops in an infuser or take 2-3 sniffs from the bottle.
We receive so many gifts from Mother Nature, seen and unseen. Perhaps it is time to rethink the things we do to her without her permission.
